The expression of UbqnKK100857 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS results in rough eye morphology in adult flies. The expression under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu leads to locomotive dysfunction in both L3 larvae (crawling speed and distance) and in adult flies (climbing score).

The expression of UbqnKK100857 under the control of either Scer\GAL4elav.PLu or Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42 leads to significantly impaired locomotion in adults (in climbing assays) and in third instar larvae (in crawling assays), as compared to controls. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu results in adults displaying significant eye degeneration, a decreased preference for the odorant n-amyl acetate and a significant decrease in olfactory learning, as compared to controls. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu, but not Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42, leads to a small decrease in lifespan, as compared to controls.

Third instar larval expressing UbqnKK100857 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu present brain morphology defects, ranging from mild (60% of individuals show an asymmetrical distribution of MBs with a midline crossing) to severe (36% of individuals lack some distinctive mushroom body components, such as cx and peduncle); these larvae also present defective neuromuscular junctions, which exhibit a significant decrease in the length of the main branch, but not in the number of branches, and show a significant decrease in the number of terminal boutons, and a reciprocal increase in their size, as compared to controls. Third instar larval expressing UbqnKK100857 under the control of Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42 present defective neuromuscular junctions, which exhibit a significant decrease in the number of branches, but not in the length of the main branch, and show a significant decrease in the number of boutons, but not in their size, as compared to controls.
