    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

tefuZIII-5190/tefustg adults are recovered at a Mendelian ratio, indicating that the tefuZIII-5190 allele minimally affects viability.

Homozygous larval neuroblasts show a near background level of telomere fusion.

tefuZIII-5190/tefuatm-6 females do not produce viable offspring.

Homozygous and tefuZIII-5190/tefustg females produce a normal amount of eggs. However, none of the embryos hatch, regardless of paternal genotype. The embryos show significant development, indicating that they are fertilised. Mitotic defects are seen in 0-2 hour embryos derived from tefuZIII-5190/tefustg females: chromosome bridges are seen between segregating nuclei, multilobed nuclei are seen and large areas of the surface of the embryo which are free of nuclei are observed. Metaphase chromosomes exhibit end-to-end telomere fusions.
