Two nucleotide substitutions at the 5' end of intron 4.
T24778033A
T?A
Nucleotide substitution in the splice donor for intron 4 from GT to GA. There is a second base mutation (C to A) in the ninth base of the same intron.
lethal | male (with Df(2R)Dll-MP)
lethal | male (with Df(2R)ED4065)
short lived | male (with Df(2R)Dll-MP)
visible | adult stage (with Df(2R)Dll-MP)
visible | adult stage (with Df(2R)ED4065)

egg235/Df(2R)Dll-MP transheterozygotes are semi-lethal, display a very low male:female ratio, and the few males die within 2-3 days; egg235/Df(2R)ED4065 transheterozygotes are near lethal and no adult males eclose. egg235/Df(2R)Dll-MP and egg235/Df(2R)ED4065 transheterozygous adults exhibit shaky, uncoordinated movements and held-out wings that are incompletely expanded, as compared to controls; the locomotor and wing phenotypes of egg235/Df(2R)Dll-MP transheterozygotes are more pronounced in males than in females.
89.2% of egg235/Df(2R)Dll-MP females survive to adulthood, but only 27.8% of egg235/Df(2R)Dll-MP males survive to adulthood.
Su(var)3-96, egg[+]/egg235 has polytene chromosome phenotype
egg235/+ reduces condensation of polytene chromosome 4 in Su(var)3-96 mutants. The chromosome is often broader and shorter than in wild type.
