The expression of Vps35GD11710 under the control of either Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42 or Scer\GAL4Mhc.PK leads to significant increases both in the number of type Ib synaptic boutons and in the miniature excitatory junction potential amplitude at the third instar larval neuromuscular junction, as compared to controls. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4ple.PF leads to a significant decrease in spontaneous synaptic activity in adult dendritic arborizing neurons and to defective sleep behavior, shown by reciprocal significant increase in sleep bouts during the light period and significant decrease in sleep bouts during the dark period, as compared to controls.

Expression of Vps35GD11710 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS does not result in any obvious eye phenotype, but does lead to a progressive defect in climbing ability, as compared to controls.

Adults expressing Vps35GD11710 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) can show significantly reduced avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies, depending on the particular P{GD11710} insertion line used.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 may result in semi-lethality, depending on the insertion line used.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in the absence of 0% or 10-20% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237-expressing area of the notum, depending on the insertion line used.

Co-expression of Vps35GD11710 and Hsap\SNCAScer\UAS.cFa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS leads to a small reduction in size of each ommatidium along with loss of interommatidial bristles, as compared to controls; and leads to a more severe progressive climbing defect, as compared to expression of either single allele alone.
