Overexpression of MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa in the gut under the control of Scer\GAL4NP2020 moderately increases resistance to iron and cadmium toxicity in an MTF-1140-1R mutant background but sensitises flies to zinc supplementation.

Overexpression of MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa in hemocytes under the control of Scer\GAL4clu-NP6219 fully rescues the cadmium-sensitive phenotype of MTF-1140-1R mutant flies but increases sensitivity to zinc toxicity.

Overexpression of MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) using Scer\GAL4bbg-C96 and motorneurons using Scer\GAL4D42 significantly extends life-span on normal food or metal-supplemented media (i.e supplemented with cadmium or iron).

Overexpression of MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa in motorneurons using Scer\GAL4D42 shortens life-span upon zinc supplementation. On the other hand, MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa overexpression in the PNS extends life-span on zinc supplementation.

Overexpression of MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa in the PNS under the control of Scer\GAL4D42 enhances resistance to 100% oxygen compared with wild-type.

Overexpression of MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa in the nervous system using either Scer\GAL4D42 or Scer\GAL4bbg-C96 sensitises flies to starvation-induced mortality.

Comments

Overexpression of MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa in the gut under the control of Scer\GAL4NP2020 moderately increases resistance to iron and cadmium toxicity in an MTF-1140-1R mutant background. MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa overexpression can not fully rescue the low survival rate of MTF-1140-1R mutants.

Overexpression of MTF-1Scer\UAS.cEa in hemocytes under the control of Scer\GAL4clu-NP6219 fully rescues the cadmium-sensitive phenotype of MTF-1140-1R mutant flies but increases sensitivity to zinc toxicity.
