Expression of nitoScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4sev.PR results in a rough eye phenotype in the posterior part of the eye and an overall decrease in eye size. There is a decrease in the number of photoreceptors per ommatidium, rhabdomeres are elongated and there is general disorganisation of the ommatidia.
Eye discs expressing nitoScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev show a stripe of cell death in the posterior part of the eye disc, which is consistent with the loss of photoreceptors seen approximately seven rows posterior to the furrow (as assayed by elav expression).
