    polyphMB02238 flies are deficient in phagocytosis of S. aureus, E. coli and zymosan, but no control latex beads. Mutants do not have fewer blood cells compared to controls.

    polyphMB02238 flies show increased susceptibility (i.e. they die sooner) to S. aureus infection and increased bacterial load, compared to wild type.

    polyphMB02238 flies are not more susceptible to wounding or E. coli infection compared to controls.

    polyphMB02238 flies exposed to S. aureus, but not those injected with PBS, show significantly more reactive oxygen species but a reduced phagocytic capacity than wild type.

    polyphMB02238 flies show decreased susceptibility (i.e. they die later) to L. monocytogenes infection compared to wild type.
