The extra bristle and heminota fusion phenotypes caused by expression of chn^Scer\UAS.cEa under the control of Scer\GAL4^MS248 are largely rescued by co-expression of chn^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} (strong expressing line P{UAS-chn.dsRNA}S). Expression of chn^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} (strong expressing line P{UAS-chn.dsRNA}S) under the control of Scer\GAL4^ap-md544 or Scer\GAL4^sca-537.4 results in a moderate reduction in the number of notum macrochaetae, while microchaetae are unaffected. Expression of chn^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} (strong expressing line P{UAS-chn.dsRNA}S) under the control of Scer\GAL4^MS248 often results in the loss of the dorsocentral or scutellar bristles. Expression of chn^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} (weak expressing line P{UAS-chn.dsRNA}W) under the control of Scer\GAL4^C-765 has no effect on the notal macrochaetae. Expression of chn^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} (weak expressing line P{UAS-chn.dsRNA}W) under the control of Scer\GAL4^pnr-MD237 has little effect on the notal macrochaetae.
