Homozygous and hemizygous females show defects in egg chamber formation, having compound egg chambers containing more than the normal 16 germ cells and more than one oocyte. The compound egg chambers appear to arise due to defective egg chamber packaging and not due to additional divisions of the germ cells: the two oocytes are separated from each other, later stage egg chambers contain nurse cell clusters of strongly differing ploidy and age, and the oocytes contain the normal number of four ring canals. Stage 10 egg chambers with binucleate nurse cells and degenerating ring canals are seen.
Border cells migrate ahead of outer follicle cells in 65% of sosief00514/Df(3R)sosie egg chambers.
Embryos derived from sosief00514/Df(3R)niki-sosie females are generally shorter than those from heterozygous siblings amd a small proportion of the eggs have a "dumpless" phenotype. The dorsal appendages are shorter and sometimes broader than normal.
sosief00514/CG13636[+] is a non-enhancer of follicle cell phenotype of kst01318/kst2
sosief00514/CG13636[+] is a non-suppressor of follicle cell phenotype of kst01318/kst2
sosief00514/+ does not increase the penetrance of the follicle cell migration coordination defect (border cells migrating ahead of outer follicle cells) seen in kst2/kst01318 egg chambers.
