Homozygous clones in the wing result in non-autonomous reduction of wing blade and hinge size along the proximodistal axis. The clone cells tend to sort out from the surrounding wild-type tissue, frequently forming vesicles. Some wing blade clones cell autonomously differentiate bristles characteristic of proximal wing hinge and notum.
Etymology: the allele is named "daedalian" after pre-Wright Brothers attempts at heavier-than-air flight.
