The midgut of Ogg1f08013 hemizygous male adults exhibit increased DNA damage (accumulation of 8-oxoG and γH2AvD).

Mutant (Ogg1f08013) adult flies exhibit hyper-accumulation of 8-oxo-guanines in midgut cells after paraquat feeding. However, the lifespan of these mutant flies in this oxidative stress assay is not decreased and is actually longer than controls.

Adult flies over-expressing Ogg1 (Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI, Ogg1f08013) exhibit a significant decrease in 8-oxo-guanines in midgut cells after paraquat feeding.

Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI-mediated expression of Ogg1f08013 results in a significantly longer lifespan than controls, either under normal feeding conditions or when adults are fed paraquat.
