Comment:

Inferred boundaries of a 229 base deletion that results in a frameshift after amino acid 30 and early translation termination after the addition of 44 novel amino acids. The deletion was reported as 330 bases in length but a deletion of 229 bases puts a stop codon in frame at the described location. Position of mutation on reference sequence inferred by FlyBase curator based on author statement.

Detailed Description

Mutants have far fewer clusters of olfactory receptor neurons in the late pupal antenna. Mutant antennae have many fewer neuronal groups, corresponding in number to the sensilla coelonica and the ectopic bristles. There are instances of sensilla innervated by a single neuron, which appear to the ectopic bristles. The olfactory receptor neurons are thinner and consisting of fewer axons than wild-type, but are otherwise normal looking. In the pupal antennal imaginal disc of mutant animals, the first and second waves of sensory organ precursor formation appear to occur normally, but the third phase fails to occur.
