The number of macrochaetae/heminotum in animals expressing edΔECD.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253 is - anterior+posterior notopleural: 3.73, presutural: 0.97, anterior supraalar: 1.00, posterior supraalar: 1.07, anterior postalar: 1.00, posterior postalar: 0.92, anterior+posterior dorsocentral: 2.10 and anterior+posterior scutellar: 2.50. Expression of edΔECD.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 results in extra macrochaetae or even tufts of macrochaetae on the notum. Co-expression of NECN.Scer\UAS and edΔECD.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253 results in loss of most microchaetae on the notum and either loss of macrochaetae or tufts of bristles in their place. Clusters of neurons appear at the sites of the developing sensory organs in pupal notum. The neurogenic phenotype caused by expression of DlD.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 is potentiated by co-expression of edΔECD.Scer\UAS, resulting in large tufts of macrochaetae and an increased density of microchaetae in the notum. The lack of bristles phenotype on the notum seen in flies expressing Nint.G.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253 is not modified by co-expression of edΔECD.Scer\UAS. The loss of microchaetae seen in animals expressing Nicd.hs using heat shock in 0-8 hour old pupae is not rescued by expression of edΔECD.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4. The loss of microchaetae seen in animals expressing NECN.hs using heat shock is not rescued by expression of edΔECD.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4. Co-expression of edΔECD.Scer\UAS and EgfrScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 results in severe tufting of bristles on the notum.
