eye, with Scer\GAL4lz-gal4
wing vein | ectopic, with Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096
Overexpression of smoScer\UAS.cHa.T:Hsap\MYC behind the morphogenetic furrow, under the control of Scer\GAL4lz-gal4 generates rough eyes, with defects most pronounced in the posterior. At approximately 24 hours, pupal retinas are relatively normal, although primary cells are often misaligned (27%). By approximately 30 hours, pupal ommatidia exhibit reduced numbers of cone cells (16%) and of lattice cells (75%), with occasional cone cells adopting a rounded morphology characteristic of apoptotic cells. Photoreceptor differentiation, assessed by counting rhabdomeres in pupal retinas, is unaffected in these mutants.
Expression of two copies of smoScer\UAS.cHa.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of hemizygous Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in the expansion of wing veins L1 and L3 and produces mild hypertrophy of the anterior wing. Expression of high levels of smoScer\UAS.cHa.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 is generally pharate lethal, while adult escapers show transformation of the entire anterior compartment of the wing into vein except for a small strip at the border. The ectopic venation and L3/4 narrowing caused by expression of smoC.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC,T:Uuuu\Myr4 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 is suppressed by co-expression of smoScer\UAS.cHa.T:Hsap\MYC.
Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096, smoUAS.cHa.Tag:MYC has wing vein | ectopic phenotype, suppressible by cos+t6.1
Wings of flies co-expressing ptcEP941 and high levels of smoScer\UAS.cHa.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 are indistinguishable from those of flies expressing ptcEP941 alone. The reduction in spacing between the 3rd and 4th wing vein seen in flies expressing high levels of fz::smoSSF.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 in a smo3/+ background is suppressed by co-expression of smoScer\UAS.cHa.T:Hsap\MYC. The ectopic venation caused by expression of smoScer\UAS.cHa.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 is suppressed by cos+t6.1.
