81% of Nrg^G00305/+ larvae encapsulate and melanise wasp (L. boulardi) eggs. Nrg^G00305/Nrg^G00305 never properly encapsulate a parasitic wasp egg, and fewer plasmatocytes are attached to the parasitic egg compared to control larvae. Unlike controls, plasmatocytes in Nrg^G00305 larvae extend filopodia from their apical side. In most Nrg^G00305 mutant larvae, no lamellocytes are attached to the wasp eggs.
