The expression of NDN.Scer\UAS results in adults exhibiting supernumerary thoracic sensory bristles (under the control of either Scer\GAL4sca-C253 or Scer\GAL4pros.PMG) and results in third instar larval wing discs exhibiting an increased number of sensory organ precursor cells (under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253), as compared to controls.

Expression of NDN.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 (in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage) results in a significant increase in the number of mitotic cells in the midgut, as compared to controls.

Flies expressing NDN.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4bi.PU show distal vein thickenings.

Eye-antennal discs in which NECN.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of either Scer\GAL4ey.PB or Scer\GAL4ey.PH display small or no eye fields by mid- to late-L3 and some discs display full or partial double antennal domains. This leads to adult flies lacking eyes and sometimes displaying double antennae. The double antennae appear to originate from a duplication of the antenna primordium, rather than an eye-to-antenna transformation. Expression of NDN.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PB or Scer\GAL4ey.PH, in mid-late L2 eye-antennal discs results in a severe suppression of cell division, shown by a decreased number of mitotic cells.

When NDN.Scer\UAS is driven by Scer\GAL4sca-P309, a weak reduction in external structures on the adult antenna is seen, with a concomitant increase in glial cell numbers, with a concomitant increase in glial cell numbers. The diameter of fascicles in antennal segment 3 are also increased. When Scer\GAL4pros.PMG is driven by Scer\GAL4pros.PMG, no defects in external cells are seen on antennal segment 3.

Expression of NDN.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PB can result in homeotic transformation of the eye to antenna. Third instar larvae show complete replacement of the eye disc by an antennal disc.

Expression of NDN.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 inhibits furrow reincarnation but not birth in the eye disc.

When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4btl.PS, ectopic fusions occur between adjacent dorsal branches and terminal branching is repressed. The phenotype is similar to that caused by HScer\UAS.cGa, but is less penetrant.

The co-expression of both NDN.Scer\UAS and Rbfox1dsRNA.Scer\UAS strongly enhances both the supernumerary thoracic sensory bristle phenotype in adults (when under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253, but not when under the control of Scer\GAL4pros.PMG) and the increased number of sensory organ precursor cells in third instar larval wing discs (when under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253) which result from the expression of either NDN.Scer\UAS alone or Rbfox1dsRNA.Scer\UAS alone.

The co-expression of both NDN.Scer\UAS and Rbfox1Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253 results in the virtual loss of thoracic sensory macrochaeta, but not microchaeta, as compared to controls.

Co-expression of bunGD1392 suppresses the increased number of mitotic cells seen in the midguts of flies expressing NDN.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130.

Vps25N55/NDN.Scer\UAS mutants (using the MARCM technique) exhibit reduced or absent Stat92E activity. Cell proliferation is not significantly increased in Vps25N55/NDN.Scer\UAS mutants, with eye imaginal discs appearing normal in shape and size. These Vps25N55/NDN.Scer\UAS double mutant clones exhibit the same level of apoptosis as Vps25N55 single mutant clones

When CycEScer\UAS.cLa is expressed under the control of either Scer\GAL4ey.PB or Scer\GAL4ey.PH in NDN.Scer\UAS eye discs, rescue of the NDN.Scer\UAS mitotic phenotype is seen; eye discs are larger and contain more proliferating cells.

Furrow initiation is blocked in eye discs coexpressing phlAct.Scer\UAS and NDN.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1.
