Flies expressing grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF exhibit a moderate eye cell death phenotype that includes a reduction in size and pigmentation of the adult compound eye.

grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS when driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF leads to a temperature sensitive loss of eye tissue and pigmentation.

Flies expressing grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF show a slight reduction in eye size and roughening of the eye at 17oC. At 26oC, a strong loss of eye tissue is seen. Reduced eye pigmentation is also seen in flies expressing grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Expression of grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS when driven by Scer\GAL4Gp150-52A does not result in ectopic midline cell death. Expression of grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS when driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF can lead to lethality, or semi-lethality with a moderate loss of eye tissue (depending on the particular insertion used).

Expression of morgueΔFB.Scer\UAS does not enhance the level of eye cell death seen when grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Expression of morgueΔUEV.Scer\UAS does not enhance the level of eye cell death seen when grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Expression of morgueG421C.Scer\UAS enhances the level of eye cell death seen when grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Expression of morgueG421A.Scer\UAS enhances the level of eye cell death seen when grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Expression of morgueG421S.Scer\UAS enhances the level of eye cell death seen when grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Expression of morgueScer\UAS.N.T:Zzzz\FLAG enhances the level of eye cell death seen when grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Expression of morgueScer\UAS.C.T:Zzzz\FLAG enhances the level of eye cell death seen when grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

The addition of sklScer\UAS.cWa, to grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS, Scer\GAL4GMR.PF animals leads to complete lethality. At 18oC there are a few escapers that exhibit severe eye loss of eye tissue. The subsequent addition of BacA\p35Scer\UAS.cHa represses these phenotypes: The animals are viable and eyes exhibit essentially normal eye size and pigmentation.

Co-expression of Uba1EP2375 enhances the eye phenotype caused by expression of grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF; eye pigmentation is reduced. Co-expression of skpAEP1423 enhances the eye phenotype caused by expression of grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF; eye size and/or pigmentation is reduced and the combination shows semi-lethality. Co-expression of morgueEP2367 enhances the eye phenotype caused by expression of grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF; eye pigmentation is reduced. The eye phenotype caused by expression of grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is suppressed by the "EP1216" line, which contains two P{EP} insertions; P{EP}Suv4-20EP1216a and P{EP}EP1216bEP1216b. The eye cell death phenotype caused by expression of grim::rprrg.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is suppressed by heterozygosity for Df(2L)dp-h25, morgueEP1184 or Df(2L)morgue19.
