Description

P{EP} insertion 212bp upstream of the emc translation initiation codon. The P{EP} element is oriented such that expression from the element results in overexpression of emc.

P{EP} insertion at -72bp relative to the start of the transcription unit.

Approximately 46% of eye disc clones expressing emcEP3620 anterior to the morphogenetic furrow (under the control of Scer\GAL4Scer\FRT.Rnor\CD2.Act5C) exhibit missing R8 cells. R8 cells are missing more often close to the posterior margin of the clone. Even when the R8 clones are present, 53% of the ommatidia have one or more cells from the R2, R3, R4 and R5 classes missing or failing to express the transcription factor ro.

Maintaining emc expression in the posterior compartment of leg imaginal discs through expression of emcEP3620 under the control of Scer\GAL4en.PU at 23[o]C reduces sensory organ precursor selection and subsequent sensory bristle numbers in the posterior compartment of adult legs by 70%.

Expression of emcEP3620 under the control of Scer\GAL4c306 results in egg chambers containing multiple germline cysts with high penetrance. Expression of emcEP3620 under the control of Scer\GAL4upd results in polar cells being absent from one end or other of about 20% of egg chambers. The oocyte is sometimes mispositioned (4.7% of egg chambers) and the egg chambers are sometimes round in shape at the anterior end (2% of egg chambers). Extra polar cells are formed in 4.2% of egg chambers. Temperature shift experiments indicate that egg chambers that were at stage 2 or 3 during high levels of expression of emcEP3620 under the control of Scer\GAL4upd and were analysed at stage 4-8 show more frequent loss of polar follicle cells, while extra polar follicle cells are most often seen in egg chambers that were at stage 5 during high levels of expression of emcEP3620 under the control of Scer\GAL4upd and were analysed at stage 9.
