P{lacW} in the first exon of the trio transcript, in the untranslated region. P{lacW}trioS137203 and P{lacW}trioS138606 map within 5bp of each other.
Adult escapers have a wing posture phenotype. Mutants show a short stop phenotype, with defects in the ability of nerve branches to reach target muscles. ISNb (where the effect is most pronounced) and SNa are most sensitive to the loss of trio activity. In addition, there are occasional defects in epidermal muscle attachment sites. The CNS also shows pathfinding errors resulting in breaks in the longitudinal connectives. The axons often fail to traverse the segment boundary.
Less than 10% of trioS138606/trio1 and trioS138606/trio8 animals show defects in photoreceptor axon projection, having a "medulla bypass" phenotype.

trioS138606/trio[+] is an enhancer of phenotype of Lar13.2
trioS138606/trio[+] is an enhancer of larval intersegmental nerve phenotype of Lar13.2
The frequency of trioS138606/trio1 or trioS138606/trio8 animals showing defects in photoreceptor axon projection (having a "medulla bypass" phenotype) is enhanced if they are also heterozygous for either Pak16 or Pak20.
