Description

Deletion beginning at insertion point of P{PZ} in Rpd304556 and extends to the amino terminal coding region. Approximately 870 bp are deleted. Conceptual translation of the remaining polypeptide suggests any possible peptide would bear no similarity to the wild type Rpd3 gene product.

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Homozygous single-cell DL1 projection neuron clones mistarget their dendrites towards dorsomedial (61% of clones) or ventromedial regions (25% of clones) of the antennal lobe (normally the dendrites of this projection neuron project to the dorsolateral glomerulus DL1).

Rpd3def24/+ flies have a normal number of dorsocentral bristles.

Rpd3def24/+ enhances the silencing of the w marker gene which is seen in the P{UAS-lacZ.Abd-B.24F6}GCD-6 insertion, such that the eye is less pigmented in the presence of Rpd3def24/+.

The average lifespan of Rpd3def24 homozygous flies is longer than wild-type.

Heterozygous males show a 41% (maternally derived Rpd3def24 allele) or 47% (paternally derived Rpd3def24 allele) extension of life-span. Heterozygous females have only modest changes in life-span; maximum but not median life-spans are increased.

Lethality principally affects the third larval instar stage.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Rpd3def24/+ enhances the phenotype of pnrD1/+, resulting in extra dorsocentral sensory organs.

86% of Rpd3def24/Df(3R)sbd45 transheterozygous males show transformation of A6 to A5, as judged by the presence of at least one bristle on the sixth sternite.

Rpd3def24/Bin1R7-18 transheterozygous males do not show transformation of A6 to A5.

The wing blade destruction phenotype of homozygous sdFab-X females is significantly suppressed by Rpd3def24/+ (26% show wing blade destruction in one wing, 30% show wing blade destruction in both wings).

The lifespan of males expressing Ctet\TeTxLCTNT.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4DJ651 is significantly extended if they also carry Rpd3def24.

The increased average lifespan of HDAC1def24 homozygous flies is suppressed by Sirt117/+ or Sirt1EP2300/+.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The decreased lifespan of males expressing Ctet\TeTxLCTNT.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4DJ651 is significantly suppressed if they also carry HDAC1def24.

The reduced lifespan seen in males expressing Ctet\TeTxLCTNT.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4DJ651 can be suppressed if the males also carry Indy206/+. Only a small increase in lifespan is seen in females expressing Ctet\TeTxLCTNT.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4DJ651 and carrying Indy206/+.

Comments

Expression of Rpd3Scer\UAS.T:SV5\V5 under the control of Scer\GAL4GH146 in single-cell DL1 projection neuron clones which are mutant for Rpd3def24 significantly rescues the dendrite mistargeting defects seen in these clones.
