Nipped-B407/+ heterozygote adults are significantly lighter compared to wild-type, the effect is even more pronounced under limited nutrition conditions (which also leads to developmental delay comparable in length to controls).
Nipped-B407/+ females have smaller wings that contain fewer and smaller cells compared to wild-type although the size of cells in third instar larval wing disc (as measured by forward scattering) is not different from controls.
Nipped-B407/+ males show more modest reduction in courtship attempts toward an unreceptive female over time compared to wild-type controls, and thusly conditioned heterozygote mutant males do not display reduced courting toward a receptive female as is observed in wild-type, suggesting defects in learning and short-term memory. Nipped-B407/+ adult males also display morphological mushroom body defects with high frequency compared to controls.
Nipped-B407/+ adults display sex-dependent sleep defects: females sleep less than controls, both during the day and at night, although the total number of both daytime and nighttime sleep episodes is increased. The duration of each sleep episode however is significantly shorter. No significant change in the overall amount of sleep is observed in Nipped-B407/+ males although they display increased number of nighttime sleep episodes but these last slightly less long than in controls.
Both Nipped-B407/+ adult males and females show defects in circadian activity pattern - all of the females and a significant fraction of males are arrhythmic.
Nipped-B407/+ mutant adults do not display any seizure-like behaviors in response to either mechanical or thermal stress.
Heterozygous adults show a significant decrease in wing blade area compared to controls.
Chromosome cores and the synaptonemal complex fragment in germarial region 3 or stage 2 oocytes in Nipped-B407 heterozygotes, which is substantially earlier than in wild type.
Nipped-B407 heterozygotes do not show meiotic chromosome segregation defects.
Approximately 60% of metaphase nuclei in the brains of Nipped-B407/Nipped-B02047 and Nipped-B407 homozygous second instar larvae show precocious sister chromatid separation, in which the centromeric regions of the sister chromatids are somewhat detached from each other.
Recessive lethality acts at the L2-L3 molt.

Nipped-B407, ct2s has wing phenotype
The small wing phenotype characteristic for Nipped-B407/+ adults is rescued by expression of MycαTub84B.PBb and leads to wings that are even larger than wild-type. Unlike in wild-type, expression of MycαTub84B.PBb in the Nipped-B407 heterozygous background does not lead to an increase in apoptosis (measured by TUNEL) in third instar larval wing discs.
Mi-24/+ suppresses the reduction in wing blade area seen in Nipped-B407/+ flies.
Nipped-B407/+ shows synthetic lethality with the P{Sym-UAS-Rad21}2 insertion line expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI (this particular insertion line does not reduce viability when expressed using Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI at 25[o]C in an otherwise wild-type background).
Nipped-B407 is partially rescued by Nipped-BChi.EGFP
Nipped-B407 homozygotes expressing Nipped-BChi.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP survive to pupariation at half the expected ratio, with developmental delays.
