adult thorax & macrochaeta, with Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096
Flies expressing kniScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 have abnormal wings; the dorsal surface appears to be one large amorphous expanse of vein tissue with densely packed trichomes and darkly pigmented cuticle. Macrochaetae are frequently missing from the thorax and femurs of the metathoracic legs are often twisted.
kniUAS.cLa/Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 partially rescues kniri-1
Expression of kniScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4kni.L2 rescues the L2 wing vein phenotype of kniri-1 flies.
The L2 wing vein truncation phenotype of kniri-1 is rescued with high penetrance by kniScer\UAS.cLa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096, but the rescued vein is consistently displaced anteriorly relative to the normal position of the L2 vein.
