Description

A pair of 1.2kb P-elements are inserted in head-to-head orientation into y.

Insertion of two P-element copies in head-to-head orientation 69bp upstream of the y transcription start site, together with deletion of y sequence from -146bp to -70bp. The distal P-element has normal terminal sequences, while the proximal P-element has a 5'-terminal 23bp deletion.

Detailed Description
Statement

Body colour: flies have reduced pigmentation in the body cuticle and wing blade and wild-type pigmentation in the thoracic, leg, wing and abdominal bristles.

Body colour: pigmentation of the body and wings is reduced, pigmentation of thoracic, leg, wing and abdominal bristles is normal.

The body and wings are yellow, bristles have normal pigmentation.

The phenotype is enhanced by ph-pP1; y expression is completely inhibited. This enhancement by ph-pP1 is weakly suppressed by su(Hw)2/su(Hw)V.

The phenotype is enhanced by ph-pP1; pigmentation of the body and wings is further reduced, and pigmentation of thoracic, leg, wing and abdominal bristles is also reduced in y2s7 ph-pP1 flies.

The mutant phenotype is completely suppressed by su(Hw)V/su(Hw)2.
