Overexpression of Hsap\OTX1hs.PN in a wild-type background at stage 7-8 by a continuous heat shock of over 20 minutes at 37oC results in the production of transformed or ectopic central nervous system structures in approximately 10% of embryos. These include neuralised embryos, dramatically increased brain lobes and ectopic head ganglionic structures, as well as fused and enlarged ventral ganglia. These transformations are much less pronounced if the heat shock is carried out at stage 9-10, and are not seen if the heat shock is carried out later than stage 12.
Hsap\OTX1hs.PN is a suppressor of visible | recessive phenotype of oc1
Hsap\OTX1hs.PN is a suppressor of ocellar bristle phenotype of oc1
Hsap\OTX1hs.PN is a suppressor of ocellus phenotype of oc1
Hsap\OTX1hs.PN is a suppressor of ocellus pigment granule phenotype of oc1
Hsap\OTX1hs.PN is a suppressor of ocellus lens phenotype of oc1
Hsap\OTX1hs.PN is a suppressor of adult head bristle phenotype of oc1
Partially rescues the vertex defects of oc1 adults; 16.1% rescue of ocellus lens structures and some rescue of ocellar but not postvertical bristles is seen.
Rescues the oc1 phenotype; oc1 flies carrying Hsap\OTX1hs.PN have either ocellar lenses and/or associated ocellar pigments. The number of macrochaetae on the vertex of the head is also rescued towards wild-type in these flies.
An Hsap\OTX1 cDNA is expressed under the control of a heat shock promoter.
