    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Homozygous clones in the anterior compartment of A10-11 easily integrate among posterior compartment cells of the corresponding segment. However, homozygous clones in the anterior compartment of A10-11 that abut the segmental border do not integrate with the posterior compartment cells of A9 (the male genital primordium), and remain in the anterior of A10-11.

Homozygous smounspecified clones in the haed produce animals with head capsule defects.

Somatic stem cell proliferation requires smo activity.

Three days after induction, homozygous clones in the ovary are found to have proliferated like wild-type cells and do not induce any aberrant phenotypes. However, 8 days after induction the mutant clones are much smaller and are recovered at a much lower frequency than control clones. Approximately 10% of ovarioles include an enlarged germarial region 3 (indicative of arrested budding), compound egg chambers or closely apposed egg chambers with no stalk between them. The affected egg chambers are often composed largely of homozygous cells, although in some compound, or partially fused egg chambers, no mutant cells are seen. In many morphologically normal ovarioles, mutant cells are found to contribute substantially to individual egg chambers of normal polarity.

All denticles in abdominal segments point posteriorly in smounspecified mutant embryos. At 18oC, naked cuticle is deleted and denticle belts of adjacent segments are fused and locally arranged as mirror image duplications.
