The development of the visceral mesoderm, the somatic mesoderm and fat body morphology is normal in gsb525 mutants. In gsb525 and gsb525/Df(2R)gsb embryos, the salivary glands invaginate and turn posteriorly as in wild-type embryos, but become misorientated and kinked. The distal tips of the glands are usually oriented ventrally, instead of being elongated along the anterior-posterior axis.
Mutants occasionally have subtle cuticle defects. Mutants have duplicated RP2 neurons (the entire NB 4-2 lineage is duplicated) and lack U and CQ neurons. Posterior commissures are missing or reduced, phenotype varies between segments but no segment is wild type. Double mutants with ptc9 or wgl-17 exhibit duplicated RP2 and RP2 sibling neurons.
Missing or reduced posterior commissures.
