ctScer\UAS.cLa; Scer\GAL41151 flies have almost complete loss of indirect flight muscles, whereas direct flight muscles are unaffacted (10/10 examined). In pupae of this genotype there is an approximately 10-fold reduction in the number of myoblasts (adepithelial cells) overlying the indirect flight muscle larval templates, and a greatly increased incidence of cell death in these cells.
When ctScer\UAS.cLa is driven in proneural domains by Scer\GAL4sca-P309, no affect is seen on the development of any of the olfactory sense organs. However ectopic large external sense organs resembling mechanosensory bristles are seen.
When expression is driven by Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 flies are severely malformed due to loss of structures that normally arise in the dpp expression domain in the eyes, legs and wings. In 43% of flies antenna is transformed to leg. Structures such as claws appear at the distal end of, or in place of, the arista. This phenotype resembles that of dominant or ectopic expression Antp alleles.
Scer\GAL4C96 induced expression in ct6 at 24oC causes some lethality. The survivors exhibit some rescue of the ct6 mutant phenotype: the wing margin, slender and stout mechanosensory bristles, non-innervated hairs. The number of chemosensory bristles is further reduced. Greater extent of rescue of wing marginal tissue and sensory bristles is observed at 17oC.
Abd-BM1, Scer\GAL469B, ctUAS.cLa, emsUAS.cSa, grnUAS.cBa, upd1UAS.cZa has embryonic/larval spiracle | ectopic phenotype
Simultaneous expression of upd1Scer\UAS.cZa, emsScer\UAS.cSa, ctScer\UAS.cLa and grnScer\UAS.cBa, under the control of Scer\GAL469B allows formation of spiracle-like tubular structures in Abd-BM1/Abd-BM1 embryos.
