In early third instar larvae, expression of tkvScer\UAS.cNa in the dorsal wing disc under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 results in an apical-basal cell length 1.4 times longer than in control cells. Expressing cells are pseudostratified, and the apical cell circumference is decreased compared to control cells. The shape of the prospective dorsal hinge cells are not altered. In late third instar larval wing discs, dorsal pouch cells are moderately longer along their apical-basal axis compared with control cells.
Anterior overexpression of tkvScer\UAS.cNa by Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 results in ectopic apical fold formation along the anteroposterior boundary of the larval wing pouch leading to gap formation in the prepupal and adult wing.
The wings of flies that express tkvScer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4tub are ~30% smaller than wild-type wings.
Expression of tkvScer\UAS.cNa in the wing and haltere, driven by Scer\GAL4tub and Scer\GAL4vg.int2.1, results in wings that are smaller than wild-type flies. Cell size in tkvScer\UAS.cNa-overexpressing wings is the same as for wild-type wings. Furthermore, wing disc size is reduced in larvae expressing tkvScer\UAS.cNa under the control of only Scer\GAL4tub.
Expression of tkvScer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI in clones in the wing results in bifurcation of veins and transformation of bristles.
Expression of tkvScer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 results in small wings with abnormal patterning in the central region of the wing. Veins 4 and 5 appear to partially fuse and there is abnormal overgrowth of the region between veins 3 and 4.
Coexpression of P{UAS-tkv} and P{UAS-put.N} with Scer\GAL469B causes strong dorsalisation of the embryo. Such embryos fail to develop ventral denticle belts and exhibit dorsal hairs along the entire dorsoventral axis. Expression of P{UAS-tkv} alone with Scer\GAL469B has no effect on embryonic patterning.
Scer\GAL4Tub.PU, tkvUAS.cNa has wing phenotype, enhanceable by dpphr4/dppd6
tkvUAS.cNa/Scer\GAL4Tub.PU is an enhancer of wing phenotype of dpphr4/dppd6
Expression of tkvScer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C in a Ubxpbx-1/Ubx9.22 background reduces the size of the P compartment of haltere discs relative to that observed in Ubxpbx-1/Ubx9.22 discs (from 1.45 to 0.83), although this ratio is still greater than that of wild-type discs.
Flies that express tkvScer\UAS.cNa, under the control of Scer\GAL4tub, in a dpphr4/dppd6 background, have smaller wings than flies expressing the transgene in a wild-type background and than dpphr4/dppd6 flies that do not express tkvScer\UAS.cNa.
