drl reporter expression is observed at the distal tip of the salivary gland at embryonic stage 12 and persists until stage 16.
BtauMAPTFBtr0091350:pb-XREcollacZ reporter expression was used to study the projections of drl-expressing cells in larvae and early pupae. In late larvae, expression is observed in fibers packed at the interhemispheric junction of the larval brain and in the optic lobe analge. In early pupae, lateral horns are detected that disappear at ~24hr apf. The cell projections at the interhemispheric junction form a transient ring which is located in a sagittal section in the middle of the brain. It appears to be highly organized with entangled fibers creating a costant patterning of loops and hooks. The ring is formed in late larvae and appears to be broken up in mid pupae.
