P{etau-lacZ} is an enhancer trap construct that encodes a lacZ reporter that is targeted to cell processes. The enhancer trap sequence consists of the weak P\T promoter fused upstream of lacZ coding sequence that is tagged at the N-terminal end with the first 383 amino acids of Btau\MAPT (this includes sequence necessary for microtubule binding, resulting in the lacZ reporter being targeted to cell projections such as axons when expressed in neurons).
