The lawn of denticles phenotype seen in homozygous wg^PE4 embryos at 25^oC is suppressed by eRF1^KY7 or Elf^LR16. In both cases, this effect is a dominant maternal effect; wg^PE4 homozygous embryos laid by a female heterozygous for wg^PE4 and one of the suppressor mutations show suppression of the wg^PE4 phenotype, whether or not the male parent carries the suppressor mutation. The wg^PE4 phenotype is suppressed more completely in wg^PE4 homozygous embryos derived from females carrying both eRF1^KY7 and Elf^LR16.

Heterozygosity or homozygosity for Df(3L)H99 does not result in noticeable suppression of the wg^PE4/wg^DE segment polarity phenotype, and there is no noticeable increase in denticle number.
