55% of homozygous ovaries from third instar larvae have an underproliferated germline and 45% have a normal number of germline cells. By the adult stage, 31% of homozygous females have germlineless ovaries, 31% have "differentiated ovaries" (containing recognisable egg chambers and/or germline cells in at least one ovariole) and 38% of females have one germlineless and one differentiated ovary.
Small ovary phenotype.
The Bolwig's nerve (BN) is usually properly fasciculated and follows its normal path until it approaches P2, where it undergoes terminal sprouting, leading to the formation of several independent nerve branches which remain on the brain surface. Defasciculation of the BN is seen prior to reaching P2 in about 20% of embryos.
