gsb expression (cDNA BSH9c2) is driven by an Hsp70 promoter.
Heat shock induction after 2-3 hours of development causes a pair rule cuticular phenotype, even numbered abdominal denticle belts and anteriorly adjacent naked regions are deleted. Later heat induction after 3-6 hours of development produces a naked cuticular phenotype, loss of RP2 and EL neurons and increase in CQ neurons.
Ubiquitous expression of gsb results in the loss of denticle belts in most embryos subject to a heat shock between 3hrs 10 mins and 6 hrs 20 mins after egg laying. After this time heat shock has no effect.
gsbhs.PBH is a suppressor of larval RP2 motor neuron | ectopic phenotype of wghs.PN
gsbhs.PBH is a suppressor of RP2sib neuron | ectopic phenotype of wghs.PN
gsbhs.PBH, slp1hs.PC has larval RP2 motor neuron phenotype
gsbhs.PBH, slp1hs.PC has RP2sib neuron phenotype
The RP2/sib lineage is missing in 97% of hemisegments in embryos carrying two copies of gsbhs.PBH and one copy of slp1hs.PC, as is seen in embryos carrying only gsbhs.PBH. In contrast, in embryos containing either one copy of gsbhs.PBH and one copy of slp1hs.PC or two copies of gsbhs.PBH and two copies of slp1hs.PC, both loss and gain of the RP2/sib lineage is seen in a partially penetrant manner.
Ectopic expression of gsb, P{Hsgsb.BH}, in the neuroectoderm suppresses the RP2 lineage duplication induced by ectopic expression of wg, P{HS-wg}.
