tupJQ3 fails to complement tup2 as judged by the increase in scutellar macrochaetae.

Homozygous clones in the lateral-posterior region of the notum can result in ectopic structures, such as ectopic sclerites and an ectopic tegula-like structure, bearing macrochaetae and sensilla trichoidea. Homozygous clones can also result in protrusions of the notum cuticle and also to small, tubercle-like disruptions with a corrugated appearance and roundish contour.

tup2 die as embryos with a prominent dorsal hole.
