Homozygotes and hemizygotes raised at 25oC show a reduced response to 1mM sucrose in a proboscis extension test when stimulated on the tarsal or labellar sensilla. Adults raised at 25oC also show a reduced response to sucrose, and a normal preference but increased tolerance for salt in a feeding preference assay. Males have a significantly higher salt tolerance than females.
Wings vestigial-like at 29oC; also capitellum of haltere extremely reduced; some crippling of legs. At 22oC wings have parts of wing blade or wing margin or both missing; halteres normal. Viability and fertility good at 22oC. Increases incidence of pattern duplications and deficiencies in l(1)ts504.
