Homozygous pburs^pupal1 and transheterozygous pburs^pupal1/pburs^exc mutants show partially expanded or incomplete wings, leg extension defects and abnormal tanning.

The programmed cell death which is seen in wild-type wings during wing maturation after eclosion still occurs in pu¹/Df(2L)Exel6035 flies.

pu⁵/pu¹ flies show some wing expansion.
