βTub60DPin-1 heterozygotes show shortened macrochaeta, which are sharply tapered at the tip; microchaeta are not affected. βTub60DPin-1 homozygotes, which die as pharate adults, as well as βTub60DPin-1/βTub60DM1, βTub60DPin-1/Df(2R)Exel6082, βTub60DPin-1/Df(2R)nvyPDFKG1 and βTub60DPin-1/Df(2R)nvyPDFKG38 transheterozygotes also show shorter bristles.

Unlike controls, in βTub60DPin-1 heterozygous pupae, microtubules are not evenly distributed along the bristle shaft and often appear as aggregates at various locations; microtubule defects are also evident in βTub60DPin-1/Df(2R)Exel6082 transheterozygotes.

Thoracic bristles, especially dorso-centrals and scutellars, shortened and thick at base, sharply tapered at tip. This bristle phenotype is stronger in homozygotes than heterozygotes. Homozygous viable.
