Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Homozygous Pc5 adults have a strong Pc adult phenotype, with transformations of 2nd leg to 1st leg, wing to haltere, ventral wing margin to dorsal wing margin, and posterior wing to anterior wing. Pc22/Pc5 transheterozygotes are viable, with a weak incompletely penetrant Pc adult phenotype.

homozygous viable? partial transformations of second and third legs into first legs when homozygous.

Clonal analysis suggests that there is an early requirement for Pc activity in the determination of the 2nd leg, while it is required until differentiation in the wing disc.
