Description

lacZ reporter expression is regulated by ninaE enhancer element II (including a pentamer of gl binding sites) and an Hsp70 promoter truncated to position -250bp.

A pentamer of a 38bp sequence (that includes a gl protein-binding site plus additional flanking nucleotides) from the ninaE element II enhancer is fused upstream of an Hsp70 promoter truncated to position -250bp (this is sufficient for heat inducibility) followed by lacZ.

Statement
Reference

Reporter gene expression is observed in a three zone pattern in the eye imaginal disc. No expression is seen anterior to the furrow, weak expression begins in the furrow and extends posteriorly, and strong expression occurs from about the 8th column of developing ommatidia to the back of the disc. Expression occurs only in the photoreceptor cells.

No expression in adult brain.
