Drives expression in glial cells and in lamina monopolar neurons.

ScerGAL4gcm-rA87.C drives expression in lamina precursor cells, and can be used to label the axons of lamina monopolar neurons L1-L5.

In the larval visual system, ScerGAL4gcm-rA87.C drives expression not only in specific glial subtypes, but also in the lineage that gives rise to lamina neurons. ScerGAL4gcm-rA87.C drives expression in epithelial glia, marginal glia, and some medulla neuropil glia, but not in medulla or lobula glia.

Reportor expression is observed in clusters of cells within GPC areas that have accumulated at the margins of the lamina that will become epithelial and marginal glial cells and also in some medulla neuropil glia. Expression is also observed in lamina precursor cells posterior to the lamina furrow, differentiated lamina neurons L1 through L5 and some medulla neurons.

ScerGAL4gcm-rA87.C drives expression in all glial cells at embryonic and early larval stages.
