Crosses at the Bloomington Stock Center showed that P{lacW}l(2)k08611k08611 (FBti0006626) is likely an insertion in da (FBgn0000413). It was lethal in combination with Df(2L)BSC209 (FBab0044943) and Df(2L)da10 (FBab0022224) and only male progeny were produced by females carrying da1 and the P{lacW}l(2)k08611k08611 chromosome. These results suggest that the da allele on the P{lacW}l(2)k08611k08611 chromosome is intermediate in strength between da1 and a null allele. They also suggest that the recessive lethality of the P{lacW}l(2)k08611k08611 chromosome can be attributed to disruption of da. Control crosses showed that Df(2L)BSC209 is lethal in combination with pie54 (FBal0009101) and RpS27A04820 (FBal0008071).
