Nuak¹⁷²⁸⁹ homozygotes exhibit reduced larval locomotion and elongated pupae with shorter spiracles and a failure in abdominal air bubble displacement.

Nuak¹⁷²⁸⁹ homozygous larvae exhibit thinner and detached body wall muscles devoid of typical sarcomere patterning and F-actin labeled myofibrillar material in large regions; wider sarcomeres; disintegration of Z-disc structures; accumulation of damaged organelles; mitochondria with abnormal cristae and electron-dense protein aggregates.

Nuak¹⁷²⁸⁹ homozygous ventral longitudinal muscle 3 is longer in second instar larvae but this increase in muscle length is no longer apparent in third instar larvae.

Nuak¹⁷²⁸⁹ homozygotes exhibit increased mortality during development under starvation conditions.

Nuak¹⁷²⁸⁹/Df(3R)BSC479 exhibit elongated pupae.
