CRISPR/Cas9 mediated non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) results in a single nucleotide deletion, leading to a change in reading frame in codon 19 and resulting in a null NPF allele.
A 1bp deletion leads to a frameshift.
NPF1 and NPFlexA/NPF1 males have significantly increased courtship towards females and males, compared to controls; NPFlexA/NPF1 males additionally have increased courtship towards immature, decapitated and D. simulans females, compared to controls, with no effect on preference index for females over males.
NPFlexA/NPF1 is rescued by NPFUAS.cWa
