In Dscam210B/Dscam210B and Dscam210A/Dscam210B flies lamina monopolar neurons L1 and L2 have significantly reduced axonal arbors in their respective correctly targeted medulla layers. Axonal tiling within medulla columns is maintained and the gross morphology of the optic lobe is indistinguishable from wild-type controls.

Dscam210B/Dscam210B somatic clones of lamina monopolar neurons L1 in a Dscam210B/+ background have slightly (but significantly) constricted axonal arbors in medulla layers M1 and M5 and no defects in tiling within medulla columns. Somatic clones of lamina monopolar neurons L2 have a severe arbor constriction phenotype in medulla layer M2.
