A GFP tag has been introduced at the C-terminal end of the open reading frame, in the endogenous Atx2 locus. In addition, a Disc\RFPDsRed.3xP3.cUa marker allele has been inserted into the first intron, transcribed in the opposite orientation to Atx2, as part of the targeting event.
Atx2KI.GFP does not affect short-term or long-term olfactory habituation, as compared to controls.

At 22[o]C and 25[o]C, expressing Zzzz\poly-GR50.UAS.EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF induces pupal lethality or visibly necrotic eyes in a considerable proportion of Atx2KI.GFP homozygotes. Phenotypes are milder at 18[o]C, with only some death being induced and no eye defects being observed. No defects are induced by Zzzz\poly-GA50.UAS.EGFP expression.
Expressing Hsap\FUSUAS.cBa.Tag:HA under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF induces mild-to-severe eye defects in all Atx2KI.GFP homozygotes.
