Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.cvPa at 30[o]C) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.VT008453 and Hsap\RELAAD.VT050660 does not significantly affect the total distance, or bout distance, of backwards walking, compared to controls, but does significantly decrease forwards walking.

Inhibition (using Ctet\TeTxLCTNT.UAS) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.VT008453 and Hsap\RELAAD.VT050660 does not significantly affect backing-up behavior when adult flies reach a narrow dead end, compared to controls; there is no significant effect on walking direction in unimpeded conditions, compared to controls.
