Expression of dapmDeg.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4prd.PU does not interfere with the normal cell cycle program of embryonic epidermal cells Expression under the Scer\GAL4en.PU driver does not disrupt growth or proliferation of the imaginal wing disc cells either. Nevertheless, expression of dapmDeg.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP driven by Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PL is lethal with about 90% of the embryos even failing to hatch but has no effect on the proliferation or differentiation of central and peripheral nervous system. However, the embryos display reduced S-phase index in the midgut while the cell number is unchanged, suggesting a defect in the endocycle. The endocycle progression is also disturbed in the ovarian follicle cells expressing dapmDeg.Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP using the Scer\GAL4c323 driver or in the third instar larval salivary gland cells using the Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 driver (manifested by reduced number of cells in S-phase as well as decreased nuclear size).
