Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.cvPa at 30[o]C) of Scer\GAL4VT050660 cells in adults results in a significant increase in the total distance and bout distance of backwards walking, with a significant decrease in forwards walking, compared to controls.

Inhibition (using Ctet\TeTxLCTNT.UAS) of Scer\GAL4VT050660 cells significantly reduces backing-up behavior when adult flies reach a narrow dead end, compared to controls, this is also the case when inhibition is restricted to the adult stage using a Gal80[ts] transgene. Rather than walk backwards, these flies tend to stall for several minutes, before squeezing around to walk forwards in the opposite direction; there is a significant increase in total forwards walking distance in unimpeded conditions, compared to controls.
