Homozygous flies (Df(3L)Gαf4B7 homozygotes carrying BaldspotcJa to rescue Baldspot function) are recovered at only approximately 20% of the expected Mendelian frequency.

Gαfc05874/Gαf4B7 flies are recovered at only approximately 20% of the expected Mendelian frequency.

Mature, P1-positive plasmatocytes are present in normal numbers in the cortical zone of the lymph gland in Gαf4B7 mutant third instar larvae. Haemocyte precursors in homozygous larvae differentiate into plasmatocytes and lamellocytes after infestation with Leptopilina boulardi, as occurs in wild-type controls.

Haemocytes bled from homozygous third instar larvae show changes in filopodium dynamics compared to wild type. The perimeter:area ratio, number of filopodia per cell and filopodium protrusion frequency is increased in the mutant haemocytes.
