ScerGAL4NPF.PU drives expression in neurons that arborise in the dorsal brain, close to the alpha lobes and the peduncle. In adults, co-localisation between ScerGAL4NPF.PU and sNPF protein is found in one pair of protocerebral neurons. No co-localisation was found in the larval brain.

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa at 31[o]C) of Scer\GAL4NPF.PU cells in larvae significantly increases mouth hook contractions, compared to controls.

When males flies in which the Scer\GAL4NPF.PU-expressing neurons have been silenced are exposed to other males that have been engineered to produce female pheromones (by expressing traScer\UAS.cFa under the control of Scer\GAL4OK72) they do not show the increase in starvation resistance compared to females that is seen when they are exposed to wild type males.

Activation of Scer\GAL4ppk23.2.695-expressing neurons in wild type males results in reduced lifespan compared with wild type males.

Ablation (using rprUAS.cUa) of Scer\GAL4NPF.PU cells in adult males does not affect food intake, compared to controls.
